The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) says it has deployed no fewer than 980 personnel to enhance security across the three senatorial districts of Cross River.
The Command said the personnel would include plain-clothes and uniform personnel.
Spokesman of the Command, John Eremi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar on Tuesday.
Eremi declared that the Cross River Command will not leave anything to chance in ensuring a peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He noted that the state Commandant, Charles Brown, had briefed the personnel on strategies to ensure a hitch-free yuletide.
He said,”Personnel have been told to be vigilant while on duty so as not to give room for none state actors to have a fill day to perpetrate their evil agenda.
“The personnel’s very first duty is to protect lives and property. The Commandant admonished all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to be at the top of their game by devising means to be ahead of the criminal minded elements.
“The Commandant warned all criminal minded elements to stay clear off the state as the Corps will not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone found disrupting the peace of the State.”
The command assured residents of a peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations. (NAN)
