Gov Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has reiterated his administration’s commitment to always focus on the needs of Akwa Ibom people.
Delivering his Christmas message to the state on Wednesday in Uyo, Eno said that the people’s welfare would continue to get priority attention.
Eno described Christmas as a season of love, giving and unity, and urged Akwa Ibom people to show love to one another, especially the vulnerable and downtrodden.
“We will continue to focus on the needs of our people, we urge our people to arise and apply their God-given talents and creativity.
“We shall continue to work harder to make life better for our people. We are determined to extend more development to the rural areas.
“We shall expand infrastructure to ensure that Akwa Ibom remained an oasis of peace and tranquility,” he said.
Eno said that his administration would continue to implement policies that would keep the youth focused in their pursuit of education and life changing skills.
The governor urged Akwa Ibom youth to be more resourceful, peaceful, law abiding and hardworking in the interest of their future.
“Our state is peaceful, safe and secure, and I urge our great and resourceful youth to help maintain this status.
“Let’s wear our unity and love as badges of honour, let’s continue to celebrate our bonds of ‘kindredship’,” he said.
He said that the state government had extended love to the people during the Christmas by providing 20 bags of rice to each of the 2,272 gazetted villages.
He called on politicians and stakeholders across the 368 wards in the state to support government’s action by showing love to their constituents.
The governor commended Akwa Ibom people for their prayers and support in the last 18 months of his government’s existence.(NAN)
