Mr Jonathan Yavala, Plateau Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), says that the corps did not stop any graduate of Laboratory Science Technology (LST) registration in the camps.
There were rumours making the rounds that LST graduates, especially those from polytechnics, were not allowed to register in the ongoing orientation course on account of non registration with their professional bodies.
But Yavala, who addressed newsmen on Monday in Jos, said that there was nothing of sort, advising rumour peddlers to fact-check their information before letting it out.
The state coordinator said that there has never been a time that the NYSC stopped graduates of LST from registering in orientation camps, simply because they were not registered by professional bodies.
“We have never done that. And the practice is that, what happens in one camp is exactly what happens in the 36 state orientation camps, including the FCT.
“All of them were registered, with or without registration from their professional bodies.
“As a matter of fact, in Plateau, we have 62 corps members, who read Laboratory Science Technology, and 52 of them graduated from the polytechnics.
“There is no reason for anyone to say that NYSC refused to register graduates of LST.
“Some of them are here with me with their credentials to buttress what I told you,” he stated.
He advised those seeking any information to contact the management of NYSC and avoid sending out fake information.
Some corps members who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said that they did not have any problem with their registration.
Miss Prescious Hegeri, an LST graduate of the University of Benin, said she arrived at the orientation camp on Thursday night and was registered successfully on Friday.
Hegeri urged those spreading falsehoods to stop it because there was nothing of the sort going on in the camp.
Lilian Aware of Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, described the trending news on social media as fake news.
She urged the public to discountenance the lies as they registered without any hitch. (NAN)
