Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Sokoto and former governor of the state, Senator Aliyu Mahatakarda Wamakko has described the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari as a great loss to the country.
Wamakko, who maintained that former President Buhari was a nice leader that meant well for the country, added that, he received the devastating news of his death with profound shock, deep sorrow, and a heavy heart.
In a condolence message personally signed by Senator Wamakko who represents Sokoto north Senatorial District read, “Nigeria has lost one of its most iconic and selfless leaders—an incorruptible patriot, a disciplined statesman, and a symbol of integrity who dedicated his entire life to the service of our nation with honour, courage, and unshakable commitment.
“From his days as a young military officer to his eventual emergence as Nigeria’s democratically elected President, Muhammadu Buhari stood tall as a beacon of hope, discipline, and forthrightness in national leadership. His unwavering resolve to tackle corruption, his passion for infrastructural rebirth, his investment in agricultural revival, and his strides in security sector reforms will remain etched in the annals of our history”.
Dissecting the late President Muahammadu Buhari’s style of leadership, Senator Wamakko said, he governed with a rare blend of simplicity, sincerity, and steadfast vision.
“Under his leadership, critical national infrastructure witnessed a renaissance—from road and rail development to power and agricultural transformation. His impact reached every corner of Nigeria, especially the long-neglected northern region, where he championed projects that uplifted the lives of ordinary citizens.
“As a fellow patriot and public servant, I personally witnessed his commitment to building a better Nigeria—one anchored on integrity, discipline, and inclusivity. His modest lifestyle, even while in the highest office, was a moral lesson to all who hold or aspire to public office.
“On behalf of myself, my family, and the good people of Sokoto State, I extend my deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Her Excellency Aisha Buhari, his children, the entire Buhari family of Daura, the Government and People of Katsina State, and indeed, all Nigerians.
“May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, accept his noble deeds, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Nigeria has lost a hero, but his legacy shall endure”.
