The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) Nigeria has announced the temporary shot down of it’s results portal barely two days after the release of the 2025 senior secondary school certificate examination results (WASSCE).
The Council late Wednesday made the disclosure but assured that the portal would be reopened in 24 hours.
In a statement, the council said, “WAEC hereby informs the general public that the result checker portal @waecdirect.org is temporarily shutdown due to technical issues.
“However, the Council is working assiduously to ensure that candidates are able to access their results in the next 24 hours.
“Please bear with us.”
Earlier in the week, precisely on Monday, WAEC had announced the release of the results and charged Schools and candidates who sat for the 2025 WASSCE to go check their results in it’s official portal.
“The West African Examinations Council is pleased to inform candidates who sat WASSCE for School Candidates, 2025 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 4, 2025.
To access the result, log on to waecdirect.org,” the Council stated while announcing the release of the results.
But barely a few hours after the release, controversy continued to trail it such that the Council issued a statement clarifying it’s stand, this: “Kindly ignore any message listing schools whose results were supposedly cancelled. Meanwhile, WAEC will never ask any centre to bring scripts of candidates to the office. Where would they get them from?”
