A vendor of mobile phones and accessories, Ayodele Oluwasegun, 33, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two iPhone 12 Pro.
The defendant, whose house address was not provided, is charge with stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on Jan. 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Fayose Market in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant stole two iPhone 12 pro valued at N1.1 million belonging to the complainant, Ayodele Patrick.
Apata told the court that the defendant, who sells phones and accessories, converted to his own use proceeds from the sale of the two iphone 12 pro.
He said that the phones were given to the vendor by the complainant to help him sell.
Apata said that the offence contravened Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 and one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case till Feb. 10 for hearing.(NAN)
