The Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI), Enugu says it will partner the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) in the training of quality nurses.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Christian Anieke, said this on Wednesday, when he received members of the Advisory Council of NMCN, who were on assessment tour of the university’s School of Nursing at Ugwuomu Nike.
Anieke, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Gozie Ogbodo, said that the university had a desire to train nurses that could work efficiently in any health institution in the world.
He said that the management was determined to provide the needed facilities that would facilitate the training of quality and efficient health professionals.
The vice chancellor expressed the belief that the advice of the team would properly guide the management in achieving its objectives.
He described the Ugwuomu campus of the university as an ideal environment for academic excellence, due to its serene environment and the lack of distraction.
In a response, the leader of the team, Prof. Clementina Nwankwo, said they came to find out the facilities that were available for the training of nurses in the university.
Nwankwo said that the council would not water down the quality of training of nurses and midwives in any institution in the country. (NAN)
