Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has said his ultimate loyalty lies with God and President Bola Tinubu, following the President’s recent commendation of his achievements in infrastructure development.
Speaking in Abakaliki, the minister described Tinubu’s endorsement as a deeply personal validation of his efforts and commitment to national service. “That public praise from the President is worth over a trillion dollars to me—it means I’m on the right path, and that prayers are being answered,” Umahi said.
He highlighted his management of a multi-trillion-naira project segment without presidential micromanagement as a sign of rare political trust. “Where else do you see a leader place you in charge of such an enormous project without a single query? That’s a trust I won’t violate,” he noted.
The former Ebonyi State governor warned that those who betrayed such trust would answer not just to the President but to a higher power. “If I ever prioritise my interests or those of my associates over God, Tinubu, or Nigerians, may divine favour be withdrawn from me,” he declared.
Umahi revealed that approximately 30 major federal infrastructure projects spanning Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones are underway under his supervision, with a completion target set for December. He pledged to uphold the President’s vision and to continue working tirelessly to meet public expectations.
He concluded by extending his gratitude to supporters and colleagues who have backed his mission, stating, “Their prayers and encouragement fuel my commitment to national development.”
