The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) has reiterated its commitment to supporting African-led solutions needed to create pathways for prosperity across Nigeria and the continent.

Travis Adkins, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), USADF, made the reaffirmation during his visit to Nigeria from August 18 to August 21 to expand partnerships.

This is contained in a statement made available on Wednesday by the U.S. Mission’s Press Office in Lagos.

Adkins noted that since 2001, the USADF had committed over $44 million in grants and supported over 480 projects across Nigeria.

According to him, Nigeria is USADF’s largest country programme.

“Our broad-based partnerships and investments in Nigeria reflect our dedication to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

”It also reflects our dedication to supporting local businesses and agricultural enterprises, and providing sustainable energy solutions to underserved communities across the continent,” he said.

It was noted in the statement that during Adkins’ visit to Reeddi Technologies Limited, he announced a new grant to further support the climate-tech company’s innovative work.

This funding will enhance the design, local assembly, and distribution of Reeddi’s energy solutions, benefiting small and medium-sized businesses and households in off-grid communities across Nigeria.

The mission said Adkins also participated in a grant award ceremony at Field of Skills and Dreams VTE Academy, a leading vocational and entrepreneurship training institute.

It said that the Field of Skills and Dreams VTE Academy was founded by U.S. government exchange alumna, Omowale Ogunrinde.

“Through this grant award, Field of Skills and Dreams VTE Academy will offer a 12-week training programme for 400 youths aged 18 years to 35 years old in the hospitality and fashion sectors,” the mission noted.

Adkins also met with Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, and attended the launch of the USADF and National Basketball Players Association-supported “What If Youth and Women Empowerment Initiative” basketball camp, led by Nigerian NBA player, Precious Achiuwa.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that USADF is an independent U.S. agency established to invest directly in African grassroots enterprises and social entrepreneurs. (NAN)
