Nigerian troops have continued to make significant strides in ongoing counter-terrorism and internal security operations across the country, with multiple terrorists neutralised and arrested, and kidnapped victims rescued, between July 30 and August 2.
A credible military source at the Army Headquarters disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that the operations also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and cash.
In Borno State, troops of 19 Brigade Garrison engaged fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Kekeno, Kukawa Local Government Area, prompting a retreat by the insurgents after intense gunfire.
Recovered from the scene were:
67 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition
81 rounds of 7.62mm x 54mm belt-linked ammunition
21 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition
A hand grenade
An improvised explosive device (IED), which was safely neutralised by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
In Taraba State, a combined operation by Sector 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) led to the arrest of a suspected gunrunner in Wukari.
Seized items included:

A motorcycle
Three mobile phones
₦842,100 in cash
In Delta State, troops of 63 Brigade Garrison, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, rescued three kidnapped victims—two female students and an adult male—from Otulu Forest in Oshimili North Local Government Area.
During the rescue, one kidnapper was killed and the following recovered:
An AK-47 magazine with 16 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition
Five mobile phones
Four school bags
₦3.6 million in cash
The victims were immediately taken for medical evaluation.
Elsewhere, in Ondo State, troops of the 323 Artillery Regiment arrested a suspected criminal along the Ikare-Ekiti Road. The suspect was found in possession of:
A dane gun
A machete
A black mask
He was handed over to the police for further investigation.
In Ughelli South, Delta State, troops of 181 Amphibious Battalion, working with Tantita Security Operatives, apprehended a suspect involved in illegal oil bunkering. Three sacks of illegally refined petroleum products were seized and processed under Operation DELTA SAFE protocols.
The military source affirmed that these coordinated operations reflect the Nigerian Army’s continued resolve to protect national security and restore peace across troubled regions.
