The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) in Borno State has been renamed after late President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Bola Tinubu announced the renaming during special Federal Executive Council session he hosted at the presidential villa in honour of the late Nigerian leader.
Tinubu stated that the renaming is a lasting tribute that captures both the symbolism and significance of Buhari’s contributions to Nigeria’s development.
Buhari served as a military leader from 1984 to 1985 and as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.
The session attended by Buhari’s family members extolled the virtues and legacies of the late former president.
