President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday commissioned the newly completed Lafia flyover and underpass, a landmark project valued at over ₦16 billion, during his first official visit to Nasarawa State since assuming office in 2023.
The flyover and underpass—combined into a one-kilometre interchange—marks the beginning of a series of infrastructure projects President Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate during his one-day working visit.
Speaking at the commissioning, President Tinubu praised Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, for his prudent financial management and dedication to development. “Thank you very much. May God bless the state. I hereby commission this project,” the President stated.
Governor Sule, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the President’s visit and his support of the state’s development agenda. He highlighted that the interchange, now officially named the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Interchange, was completed within a year—fully funded without external borrowing.
“This is the first project you are commissioning on your visit,” the governor said. “Thanks to your national economic reforms and our commitment to progress, we were able to deliver this project without incurring debt.”
The President’s visit includes the commissioning of other key projects such as the newly dualised 5-kilometre Shendam Road, a modern State Secretariat complex, new tractors, security vehicles, and official cars for traditional rulers.
This visit marks President Tinubu’s inaugural tour of Nasarawa State since his election.
