President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, son of former military president, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) as chairman of the revamped Bank of Agriculture (BOA).
This in contained in the list of fresh appointments by the president released by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga on Friday.
Babangida, 53, has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Business Communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland.
He also obtained training in an executive programme in Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.
Meanwhile, the president Tinubu also appointed Lydia Kalat Musa from Kaduna State as Chairman of the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA), Jamilu Wada Aliyu from Kano State as Chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), while Yahuza Ado Inuwa from Kano State will lead the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) as its chairman.
Furthermore, the presidential spokesman added that Sanusi Musa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Kano State, has been appointed as chairman of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Professor Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu from Sokoto State has been appointed Director-General of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA), and Sanusi Garba Rikiji from Zamfara State as Director General of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN).
The rest according to him are; Mrs Tomi Somefun from Oyo State who has been appointed Managing Director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), Dr Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria from Kaduna State as Executive Director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC).
Onanuga explained that these appointments are expected to fast-track reforms, strengthen regulatory frameworks, and enhance the operational efficiency of the institutions they lead.
