Senator Aliyu Wamakko has expressed profound grief over the passing of Nigeria’s former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as an “incorruptible patriot” and one of the country’s most selfless leaders.
In a condolence statement personally signed by the senator, Wamakko reflected on Buhari’s decades-long public service, which spanned from his military career to his tenure as Nigeria’s democratically elected president.
“Nigeria has lost one of its most iconic and disciplined statesmen, a symbol of integrity who dedicated his entire life to serving our nation with courage and unwavering commitment,” Wamakko said.
The senator highlighted Buhari’s efforts to combat corruption, revitalise infrastructure, promote agriculture, and reform the security sector as enduring contributions that would be remembered in Nigerian history.
“As a fellow public servant, I witnessed first-hand his devotion to building a better, fairer Nigeria, rooted in discipline and inclusion,” Wamakko added, praising Buhari’s modest lifestyle even while holding the country’s highest office.
Extending condolences to Buhari’s widow, Aisha Buhari, his family, and the people of Katsina State, Wamakko concluded by praying that Allah grants the late leader eternal rest and forgives his shortcomings.
