A security guard, David Kingsley, 38, on Wednesday appeared before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates Court, charged with stealing jewellery worth N3m.
The defendant, who resides at Ungwan Sunday, Kaduna, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant, who is employed by the residents of Yakowa Estate Narayi, Kaduna allegedly committed the offence on Sept. 23.
He said that the defendant with others still at large broke into the apartment of one of the residents and stole the jewellery worth N3m.
He said that the matter was reported at the police station,
“The defendant was arrested after he was seen committing the crime on the CCTV in the house,” Leo added.
He said that the offence contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant N200, 000 bail with two surgeries in like sum.
Emmanuel ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
The magistrate further ordered that the sureties furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.
He adjourned the case until Oct. 28, for hearing. (NAN)
