Russia is prepared to assist in resolving the ongoing tensions between Iran and the U.S., Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko stated on Tuesday.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that representatives from both Iran and the U.S. would meet in Oman on April 12 for high-level indirect talks.
“Russia always provides all possible assistance when it comes to resolving any crisis or conflict. This also applies to the situation surrounding Iran,” Rudenko told reporters.
He further emphasised that any potential U.S. attack on Iran could have severe consequences for the region. However, with negotiations already underway in Oman, mediated by Oman, Russia hopes that its assistance would not be necessary.
“But if necessary, of course, we will provide all possible assistance,” Rudenko added.
While Russia is not obligated to offer military aid in the event of a U.S. attack on Iran, the diplomat assured that Russia would take all possible measures to help resolve the situation.
