The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), has expressed its profound appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, for the recent signing of the tax reform bills and the commission`s bill.
Dr Muhammed Shehu, Chairman of the commission said this in Abuja on Monday, in his commendation message to the President, on the bills.
Shehu said that the feat would underscore the administration’s dedication to enhancing transparency, accountability and efficiency in revenue generation and allocation.
He said that the achievement would also lay a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth and national development.
“The RMAFC is expressing its profound appreciation to the President, for the bold and transformative steps taken in reforming Nigeria’s fiscal landscape through the recent passed and signed tax reform bills and the RMAFC bill.
“The commission assures Mr President of its continued support and steadfast collaboration in the implementation of these far-reaching reforms,’’ he said.
The chairman said that the bills represented a milestone in the nation’s ongoing efforts to improve revenue generation, reduce dependence on oil revenue and enhance economic diversification.
He noted that by streamlining and modernising the tax framework, the bills are expected to strengthen compliance, broaden the tax base and stimulate inclusive economic growth across all sectors.
“We acknowledge the tireless efforts of the members of the National Assembly, particularly the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas,’’ he said.
The chairman also appreciated the Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, along with policy makers and other stakeholders, who worked collaboratively to make this reform a reality.
According to him, by signing these bills into laws, the President had not only demonstrated a strong commitment to the welfare of our citizens and the prosperity of our nation.
“The president had also proved beyond doubt that he understood the socio-economic situation of the nation.
“There is no doubt the fact that the tax reforms will bring great reliefs to low-income earners who, until now, were compelled to pay taxes while struggling to survive on their meager means of sustenance,’’ he said.
Shehu, however, commended the president for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s fiscal framework, as demonstrated by the bills.(NAN)
