Rep Leke Abejide (ADC-Kogi), on Sunday, canvassed support for President Bola Tinubu to enable him to achieve the ‘lofty goals’ of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Abejide made call in Abuja on the sidelines of the 10th anniversary and election of new executives of Association of Yoruba Traditional Leaders/Obas in Northern States and the FCT.
He said that as Yoruba people living in the north, it was important for them to work together and support Tinubu’s administration and to always speak in one voice.
The lawmaker described the gathering as unique, as it showcased the culture, values and importance of Yoruba race in Nigeria.
He pledged to galvanise support for the traditional stools, as they commit to continuously support the president’s policies and programmes.
“I lived in Kano for about 32 years. I entered Kano as nobody, but I came out as somebody, through the grace of God.
“And our (Yoruba) population in Kano State, if you count us one after the other, we are no fewer than a million.
“If you go to Plateau, you will see the Ogbomosos; if you see the number, they are also in millions. In Funtua, we even have communities. We have communities in Kano; we have ‘Anguwan Yorubawa’.
“I want us to speak with one voice when the time comes; once we do that, I can always get things for you as an association.
“We are so many, and let us use our population wisely this time.
“When it is time, we are still going to hold a very big gathering that will bring all our people in the 19 northern states, including the FCT together.
“We are going to speak at that time and I believe the whole world will hear our voice,” he said.
Abejide, who represents Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopa-Muro Federal Constituency of Kogi, said that as part of his campaign promises, plans had been concluded to begin the construction of a 57.2km road in his constituency. (NAN)
