The News reports that the aircraft carrying Buhari’s remains, accompanied by Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, landed at Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport at approximately 1:50 p.m.
At the airport, the body was received by President Bola Tinubu, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina, several ministers, state governors, leading business figures, National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, presidential aides and members of the Katsina State Executive Council.
Other dignitaries present included former President of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, military service chiefs and former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai.
As part of the national mourning, the Federal Government declared Tuesday a public holiday in honour of Buhari, in line with the seven-day period of mourning announced by President Tinubu to commemorate the late leader’s life and service.
