President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. Leon Usigbe, a veteran journalist with The Tribune Newspapers and a long-serving member of the State House Press Corps.
In a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Dr. Usigbe as a dedicated media professional whose commitment to truth, balance, and ethical journalism earned him widespread respect among colleagues, government officials, and readers across the nation.
“Dr. Usigbe was a consummate journalist and a respected veteran of the State House Press Corps. His insightful reporting and calm demeanour contributed immensely to strengthening democratic governance and keeping Nigerians informed about the workings of the presidency and government,” the President stated.
President Tinubu extended his condolences to the bereaved family, friends, the management and staff of The Tribune, and the entire State House Press Corps, praying for divine comfort and eternal rest for the late journalist.
“May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn this great loss,” the President added.
Dr. Leon Usigbe was widely regarded as one of the most experienced and respected reporters covering the presidency, known for his professionalism and journalistic integrity throughout his career.
