President Bola Tinubu arrived in Katsina on Tuesday to receive the remains of Nigeria’s former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London on Sunday at the age of 82.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima had travelled from London earlier on Tuesday, accompanying Buhari’s body back to the country.
At the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport in Katsina, President Tinubu was welcomed by an array of dignitaries, including Governor Dikko Radda, former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, and prominent businessman Alhaji Aliko Dangote. Also in attendance were Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, ministers, former governors, and serving and former senators.
Others present included Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, former Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed, and members of the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
