The Police Command in Katsina State, says it has successfully killed a suspected bandit at Ketare Ward, Kankara Local Government Area (LGA).
The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, who disclosed this in a statement in Katsina on Tuesday said one AK-47 rifle was also discovered.
According to the police spokesman, the incident occurred on Tuesday, at Bulunkuza village in Tudun Wada Ward, Kankara LGA.
“Information was received at the Kankara Divisional Police Headquarters that bandits, in their numbers, wielding dangerous weapons, attacked Gidan Dan Ali village in Kankara LGA.
“Upon receipt of the report, promptly, the DPO Kankara Divisional Headquarters, CSP Iliyasu Ibrahim, mobilised a team of police operatives, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and vigilance group members to the scene.
“The team successfully tracked the assailants down to Bulunkuza village, where they gallantly engaged them in a fierce gun duel, forcing the criminals to abandon their plan and fled the scene.
“During the course of scanning the scene, the body of one neutralised suspected bandit and one AK-47 rifle were recovered,” Sadiq-Aliyu said.
He said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has commended the operatives for their exceptional display of gallantry and professionalism.
According to him, the commissioner also urged members of the public to continue providing the command with timely information on suspected criminal activities for prompt and decisive actions. (NAN)
