Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has called on the Bulgarian Government to support its efforts towards tackling insecurity, boost agriculture and provide quality education for the citizens.
Muftwang made the call when Mr Yanko Yordanov, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Nigeria, visited him on Friday in Jos.
The governor, who highlighted his administration’s efforts in developing critical sector of the economy, said that insecurity had remained a major setback to its developmental strides.
He, however, said that his administration was open to having formidable relationship with other countries and development partners, towards placing the state on the path of steady growth and development.
”Agriculture is the major occupation of our people owing to favourable weather and arable land.
”This is why we have started operating a faculty of agriculture in our university in Bokkos, and we intend to push towards having an engineering faculty soon.
”So, this visit has open new vistas of relationship and hope that your country will support us in tackling insecurity, promote agriculture and education.
”We are open to having relationships with foreign governments and institutions towards advancing the lots of our people on the Plateau,”he said.
Earlier, Ambassador Yordanov, thanked the governor for granting him audience, adding that the visit would boost the relationship between Nigeria and Bulgarian government.
”We discussed basically three areas of cooperation between Bulgaria and Nigeria and Plateau government in particular.
”We are looking at the areas of agriculture, security and education.
”We are doing a lot in the area of agriculture, we will soon announce a scholarship programme for Nigerian students to support agriculture.
”So, my presence here is a manifestation of our desire to work with Plateau government to develop critical sectors of the economy,”he said.(NAN)
