A philanthropist, Mr Yusuf Yahaya-Kwande, has donated 205 pieces of collapsible walking canes to students and teachers of the FCT School of the Blind, Jabi, Abuja.
Presenting the items on Wednesday, Yahaya-Kwande, who doubles as the Founder, Yahaya-Kwande Foundation, said that the gesture was in collaboration with his brother, Jemilu.
He added that some group of dedicated friends also supported the donation.
Yahaya-Kwande said that the gesture aimed at alleviating the suffering of the visually impaired students of the school.
He also said that gesture would improve the living condition of the benefiacries in great measures.
”We embarked on this mission as a commitment to making a difference in the lives of those who are going through unique challenges.
”This gesture goes far beyond the physical canes; it symbolises a recognition of the potential of these students.
”I also believe in the ability of these students to thrive inspite of their visual impairments,”he said.
Yahaya-Kwande, who vowed to support the students to attain their full potentials in life, also promised to donate some laptops to the school before the end of 2024.
Mrs Mrs Uganden Ngunan, Principal of the school, flanked by Godwin Lazarus, the Head Boy and some teachers, received the items on behalf of the students.(NAN)
