A 22-year-old Petrol Filling Station Supervisor, Prosper Ese, was on Wednesday docked in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N1,256,400 belonging to his employer.
The defendant whose address was not provided is facing a two-count charge bothering on stealing and fraud.
He however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 2, at the Foundation Bus-Stop, Oko-Afo, Badagry, Lagos.
Ekpo said that the defendant, being a supervisor at the Arigbabuwo Petrol Filling Station stole the sum of N1, 056,400 from the money remitted from the sales of petrol products from petrol attendants, property of one Kolapo Fisayomi, the complainant.
He said that the defendant also fraudulently obtained the sum of N200, 000 from one Aisat Folorunsho, with the pretence to give her cash for her POS business, but converted the money to his own use.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant was caught when he made an attempt to run away from the filling station.
Ekpo said that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 311 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr N.A Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
Layeni adjourned the case until April 16, for mention. (NAN)
