The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has strongly condemned the attack and killing of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Rano Divisional Headquarters in Kano State, CSP Ali Baba.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan, expressed deep shock over the tragic incident, which occurred on Monday.
He explained that some suspected hoodlums stormed the police station following the death of a criminal suspect in custody.
He described the attack as a reprehensible act that undermined the rule of law and disregarded the sacrifices made by police officers.
Olaniyan extended his condolences to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, the Kano State Police Command, and the family of the late DPO.
“We pray that Almighty God grants his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and may his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.
He called on relevant authorities to ensure that justice was served and that those responsible for the heinous act were swiftly brought to justice.
Olaniyan reaffirmed the PCRC’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in its mission to uphold law and order and safeguard the lives and property of all Nigerians.
He also urged citizens to unite in condemning the act and to work alongside the PCRC and security agencies to ensure peace, security, and justice across the country.(NAN)
