Pastor Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has urged Nigerian leaders to demonstrate strong political resolve to halt the ongoing violence and mass killings plaguing the country.
Speaking during a condolence visit to Yelewata Town in Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, Pastor Enenche condemned the 14 June attack that left scores of residents dead, describing it as unjustifiable and deeply troubling.
“There is no single justification for such atrocities,” he told reporters. “The key to ending these senseless killings lies with the political leadership of our nation, both at federal and state levels.”
Pastor Enenche emphasised that leaders must set aside political interests and prioritise human life. “We need leaders who are moved by compassion and conscience—who understand that one day, they will stand before God to account for their actions,” he said.
The influential cleric, who is known for his outspoken views on national issues, said he visited Benue to stand in solidarity with affected communities and offer both spiritual and material support. Victims received donations of relief materials including mattresses, rice, and noodles.
Describing the incident as a “near-genocidal pogrom,” Enenche called for collective resistance to violence. “Light will never bow to darkness,” he declared. “It is time for the people to rise up and say: enough is enough.”
To the bereaved families, he offered words of comfort: “Only God understands your pain. May He grant you consolation and the strength to endure.”
