The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bolaji defeated her Ukrainian opponent, Oksana Kozyna, on Monday, in straight sets 2-0 (21-9, 21-9) to win Nigeria’s first Paralympics medal.
Eniola has become the first African to win a medal in para-badminton .
“We are very happy that she won our first medal at this games, though we are very disappointed that she lost yesterday at the semi-final.
“But she rose to the occasion today winning the consultation bronze medal for the nation,” Enoh said.
“Bolaji is the first African to come this far in para-badminton and she needs to make a mark as she won first medal in badminton for Nigeria and Africa in the Olympic,” Enoh said.
Enoh charged Nigerian athletes at the Paralympics to be enthusiastic for victory.
“You all can do it for yourselves and for the country. As a ministry, we have made available what you need, make all of the sports-loving people of Nigeria proud of you.
“Fly the nation’s flag very high in Paris.
“I believe in your capacity. Having done all we should as government, we are rooting for you. It is now over to you to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians,” Enoh said. (NAN)
