Dr Ahmed Apatira, Chairman, Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in Lagos State, says the council’s free feeding programme for public primary schools will foster academic excellence.
Apatira, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Lagos, said the programme was geared toward nurturing and supporting the development of young minds.
“By providing this essential support, we help to create a conducive learning environment that fosters academic excellence, creativity, and innovation to support the educational and nutritional needs of primary school pupils in the area.
“This laudable initiative is a testament to our commitment to improving the lives of the people in this constituency, particularly the vulnerable and disadvantaged.
“By providing daily meals to primary school students, the initiative aims to enhance their nutritional well-being, improve their concentration and focus in class, and increase their overall academic performance,” he said.
Apatira said that the initiative was also expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, as it would create jobs and stimulate economic activities in the community.
He added that it would help to reduce the burden on parents and guardians, who would no longer have to worry about providing daily meals for their children.
The chairman said that as the daily school feeding programme continued to gather momentum, the council was dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of people in the area.
“We are proud of this commitment to education, nutrition, and community development, it is a legacy that will undoubtedly be felt for generations to come.”
The chairman said that hundreds of pupils stand to benefit from the gesture as more of them get enrolled into public schools. (NAN)
