All 25 members of the Osun State House of Assembly elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have dismissed speculation of defection to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), affirming their continued loyalty to Governor Ademola Adeleke and the PDP.
Speaking at a press briefing in Osogbo on Wednesday, the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Wale Egbedun, stated unequivocally that the lawmakers remain united and fully aligned with the governor’s vision.
“There is no division, no defection, and certainly no crisis within our assembly,” Egbedun said. “The rumours making the rounds are baseless. We are not for sale and we won’t be swayed by noise or pressure.”
Egbedun, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, said the lawmakers were proud of their grassroots connections and the trust vested in them by constituents. He added that the overwhelming support for Governor Adeleke across the state had only grown stronger.
“The people of Osun are firmly behind the governor. We feel their pulse daily, and we are committed to keeping their trust with honour and integrity,” he said.
The speaker also reaffirmed the lawmakers’ confidence in the state leadership of the PDP, led by Chairman Mr Sunday Bisi.
He further endorsed Governor Adeleke for a second term, promising a strong showing in the 2026 elections.
“In 2026, by God’s grace and the will of the people, we will re-elect Governor Adeleke so he can continue the good work he has started,” Egbedun said. “What you see in this assembly is unity, focus, and unwavering commitment.”
