Sen Babajide Omoworare, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, says the party will never lose the governorship election in the state again.

Omoworare said this on Monday in Osogbo while declaring his intention to contest the Aug. 8, 2026 Osun governorship election.

The chieftain said that the loss of the 2022 governorship election by APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was a mistake that would never repeat itself again.

Omoworare, a former Senior Special Assistant to late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, said APC did not lose the election because PDP was stronger,

“APC lost the last election due to issues within the party, but those have been resolved. We are on the ground.

“We will run for the next election, and we will win. The party will never lose any election in the state again.

“I want to be the governor of the state because there is need for an Osun renaissance.

“If I am elected, I will revolutionise the agriculture sector and embark on infrastructural development.

“Osun has the highest food inflation in the region because rural roads are bad.

“Farmers cannot move their produce, but I will fix that if elected. We need a new era of governance in the state”, he said.

The chieftain also expressed optimism about winning the election, adding that he had never lost an election before.

“I have contested five times. Even when they tried to rig me out, I went to court and won. By God’s grace, I am a five-star general in politics.

“I was a former majority leader in the Lagos State House of Assembly and was a senator representing Osun East,” he said.

Omoworare reaffirmed his loyalty to APC and added that he would willingly step down if asked by party elders.

Also, the APC Chairman in the state, Tajudeen Lawal, described Omoworare as an astute politician and core progressive.

Lawal, however, said the party would provide a level playing field for all aspirants.

He appealed to all the party’s aspirants to be peaceful and work in unity. (NAN)
