Coach Stanley Eguma of Enyimba International FC of Aba, said he is optimistic of victory against Heartland FC of Owerri on Thursday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the encounter is a match day 21 of the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Eguma, who stated this while addressing newsmen in Aba on Wednesday, said that he would devise a strategy that would help his team win the game.
“It is a big local derby and game too because Heartland FC is a big club to be reckoned with in the Nigeria top league.
“They are our closest rival and I expect a tough game, but I think we have to map out a strategy in order to win the game.
“Right now, we are confined to a bad situation where we have to win the game or nothing, we have lost vital points both home and away,”Eguma said.
Also speaking, the club Media manager, David Orji said that coach Eguma has declared the encounter a must win for the People’s Elephant, following the club`s poor results,
“With recent slips against Kano Pillars and Kwara United derailing the title ambitions, we must seize this opportunity to restore our pride and get the campaign back on track.
“Though, we are battling fatigue, having endured a grueling schedule with six games in just 16 days, including the CAF Confederation Cup fixtures in Uyo and Cairo,”he said.
Enyimba and Heartland rivalry is one of the fiercest in the NPFL, fueled by decades of pride, passion, and unforgettable moments.
NAN reports that Enyimba FC sits in ninth position with 27 points from 19 matches, while Heartland FC is on 12 with 25 points from 20 matches
