Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Wife of the President and Founder of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), has donated ₦1 billion to support victims of natural and man-made disasters in Niger State.

The donation, made through her pet project, was announced on Tuesday in Minna during her visit to the state. The beneficiaries include victims of floods, fires, boat accidents, and banditry attacks.

“These are indeed challenging times,” she said. “But I pray that Almighty God comforts the bereaved families, heals the injured, and strengthens all those affected.”

She praised the Federal Government’s swift intervention in providing emergency funds and relief materials and commended the compassion shown by both federal and state authorities.

“The strength of a nation is revealed in its compassion during times of crisis. I am glad that President Bola Tinubu swiftly approved the immediate release of funds and food items to assist in recovery efforts and the reconstruction of destroyed homes,” she stated.

Senator Tinubu expressed sympathy with Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and the people of Niger State over the recent devastating flood in Mokwa Local Government Area, which claimed lives and displaced several families.

She also commended the state government’s prompt response, including the provision of financial aid and food support to affected households.

“In support of the state’s rebuilding efforts, the Governing Council of the Renewed Hope Initiative is donating ₦1 billion along with relief items including clothes, shoes, and 2,000 bags of 50kg rice,” she announced.

The First Lady extended her condolences to families impacted by the recent tragic boat accident, banditry attacks, and fire outbreaks across the state.

“As a mother, I share your pain and grief over this irreplaceable loss. Together, we can overcome this tragedy and support the healing and rebuilding of this community,” she said.

According to her, the funds will be used primarily for housing support and the provision of essential supplies to help displaced families rebuild their lives.

“This is in line with the objective of the Renewed Hope Initiative as contained in our motto: Towards a Better Life for Families,” she added.

In his response, Governor Mohammed Bago expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady for their timely and generous support to the people of Niger State.
