The Kogi East Forum of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) has enumerated Gov. Ahmed Ododo’s numerous achievements in one year and solicited support for him to deliver more dividends of democracy.
The forum’s chairman, Dr Aminu Atabo, who briefed newsmen on Sunday in Lokoja, highlighted some of the achievements to include improved security, infrastructural development, and regular payment of salaries, among others.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. Ododo would be one year in office on Monday, having succeeded former governor Yahaya Bello on Jan. 27, 2024.
Atabo said that the governor’s style of handling security issues, crimes, and criminal elements has reduced insecurity and criminality to the barest minimum.
“Ododo took the issue of securing the lives and properties of Kogi residents and travellers from other parts of this country plying through our state with seriousness.
“With the tenacity, dedication, and commitment of the governor, who acts and deals with criminal elements like a military man, these criminal elements have been largely neutralised.
“Through his formation of vigilantes, military bases in crisis-ridden areas, and appointing zonal security advisers, Kogi residents can now sleep with their eyes closed.
“Aside from security, the massive infrastructural developments going on at our various institutions of learning, reconstruction and rehabilitation of our primary healthcare centres across the 21 LGAs of the state, construction and rehabilitation of roads, amongst others, are laudable.
“Other achievements of the governor include payments of counterpart funding of critical developmental partnerships with multilateral organisations with vigour and precision,” he said.
Atabo added that Ododo had continued with his magic of prompt payment of salaries and never deviated since he assumed the mantle of leadership.
According to him, the gesture has tremendously improved the economic and social life and status of civil servants and appointees.
He gave other areas of major successes of Ododo’s administration to include encouragement of youths through payments of WAEC fees, scholarships, and free education at primary and secondary education levels.
“The Forum of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) from the Eastern flanks of Kogi State, hereby with pride and a sense of patriotism, associates ourselves with these laudable achievements of the servant-leader.
“We hereby declare our total support, endorsement, and solidarity for his developmental plans, programmes, projects, and all governmental activities.
“It’s therefore our solemn pledge to continue to enlighten and educate our people both at home and in the diaspora, the wonderful interventions the governor is entrenching in their lives,” he said.
Mr Lazerous Akubo, SSA to Ododo on Public Communications, Kogi East, expressed gratitude to God over the cordial relationship between the forum and the governor.
Akubo pledged the readiness of the forum to assiduously work with the governor to attract more infrastructural development to Kogi East in his (Ododo’s) second year. (NAN)
