Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is set to commission the newly upgraded Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, Zamfara State, on 17 June, as part of activities marking Governor Dauda Lawal’s second year in office.
According to a statement from Suleiman Idris, spokesperson for Governor Lawal, the hospital has undergone extensive renovations and is now outfitted with state-of-the-art medical facilities that align with international healthcare standards.
“The former President will officially inaugurate the upgraded Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital on Tuesday,” the statement read. “He will also commission newly constructed roads within the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Gusau.”
These projects are part of Governor Lawal’s wider Urban Renewal Programme, aimed at revitalising infrastructure and public services across Zamfara State.
In the last two years, the administration has launched a series of development initiatives, including the construction and modernisation of schools, hospitals, and essential infrastructure in strategic locations.
Additionally, the state government has ramped up logistical support for security forces in its ongoing battle against banditry and kidnappings, which have long plagued the region.
