The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Jigawa has called for partnership with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to cover its activities and programmes for the development of the scheme.
The state’s Coordinator of the scheme, Mr Jidda Dawud, made the call on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the NAN office in Dutse.
Dawud said he was in the NAN office to seek collaboration for the two Federal Government organisations to work together to achieve a common goal.
He added that “I have been informed that here in Jigawa, NAN in particular is very active in covering our activities; I want to appreciate you for that and hope that the tempo will be sustained.
”There shouldn’t be any communication gap between NYSC and NAN because we are all working toward achieving one goal, which is development of our country.
”The visit is to let you know that we will continue to work together for the good of the NYSC in Jigawa.”
The coordinator, who described the media as an important partner to the scheme, added that there had been a rapport between the two agencies.
Dawud, however, urged NAN to always correct the NYSC formally or informally, whenever it goes wrong while discharging its duties.
Responding, the NAN State Correspondent in Jigawa, Hajiya Aisha Ahmad, assured the NYSC team that the agency would maintain the already existing cordial relationship with the scheme in the state.
Ahmad also assured that the existing relationship between the two agencies would continue and all the scheme’s activities would be given adequate coverage.
“We will also do everything possible to publicise your activities and programmes because of what the NYSC represents in the country.
“NAN was established to foster unity in the country and beyond, the agency will do everything possible to encourage the scheme.”
NAN reports that in the entourage of the co-ordinator were Mr Omar Mohammed, Assistant Director, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Department in the Jigawa office.
Others were Mr Philip Korayom, the Chief Information and Public Relations Officer, and Abubakar Isiaku, Personal Assistant to the State Coordinator.(NAN)
