The Akwa Ibom Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has urged the newly promoted officers to see their promotion as a call for increased dedication and commitment to the ideals of the Corps.
The State Commandant, Mr Bashar Hussaini, said this on Monday during the decoration of 95 newly promoted officers at the command in Uyo.
Hussaini reminded the officers not to forget that enormous responsibilities accompanied promotions, which could only be justified by increased dedication.
“Promotion is not only an acknowledgement of hard work, but also a call to uphold a higher standard of leadership.
“The corps as an important component of the nation’s security architecture is specifically tasked with protecting critical national assets and infrastructure against vandalism.
“Coordinating private security companies, response/management of disaster and providing assistance to other relevant agencies.
“You will be assigned new responsibilities and I expect you to show capacity and mentor your subordinates,” Hussaini said.
Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, Deputy Commandant, Mr James Udeme, thanked God, the Federal Government and NSCDC for the promotion given to them.
He pledged an increase in their dedication to duties and commitment to the service in whatever capacity they find themselves.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that three Assistant Commandants Corps were elevated to the rank of Deputy Commandants and eight Chief Superintendents of Corps were decorated as Assistant Commandants of Corps. (NAN)
