Dr Olusola Odumosu, the FCT Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has tasked personnel of the corps on intelligence gathering and investigation.
Dr Olusola Odumosu, the FCT corps commandant stressed this on Tuesday in Abuja, at the opening of a three-days training organised for personnel of the Command’s intelligence and investigation unit.
Odumosu described the intelligence and investigation department as the engine room of the corps
“The intelligence and investigation department is the engine room of every operation at the command and so they must be abreast with the modern realities,” he said.
He noted that the training marked a valuable opportunity for personnel to learn and develop their skills, and urged them to be attentive and actively engaged throughout the sessions.
“This training is to refine, reshape, introduce modern techniques to you and make you well grounded in your career as intelligence personnel and investigators.Y
“You must be a step ahead of criminals if you must stop them from carrying out their nefarious activities.
“We must not be reactive but proactive to prevent vandals and other economic saboteur from destroying our common wealth,” he said.
One of the resource persons, Lt.-Col. Joshua Ogunbumi said that the training would help the participants be abreast with modern techniques used in surveillance and criminal investigation.
He said that there was a need for security operatives especially those in the intelligence units to be constantly trained and retrained on how to gather credible intelligence.
Ogunbumi added that the training would also enlighten personnel on the right way to achieve proper intelligence gathering, investigation and diligent prosecution.
Meanwhile one of the participants who pleaded anonymity said that the training woukd help to equip personnel of the department with new skills and orientation for better service delivery.
The participants said this was especially with regards to credible intelligence gathering which was a vital area in every security operations.
