Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), Bayo Ojulari, has resigned from his position.
His resignation comes barely four months after he was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in April 2025.
Sources confirmed that Ojulari stepped down on Friday after submitting his resignation letter to the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi.
He was said to have been confronted by a combined team of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) led by it’s chairman, Ola Olukoyede and the DSS boss on Friday following a wave of allegations tied to his time in office.
He has been accused of mismanaging company funds and being involved in fraudulent dealings.
There are also claims that he worked closely with Bashir Haske, a businessman reportedly connected to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Sources alleged that through this relationship, Ojulari helped move large sums of money out of the NNPC.
In addition, the former NNPCL boss had faced criticism in recent time following his approval of of a company delegation to an oil and gas conference in Kigali, Rwanda. The trip was said to have cost millions of dollars.
Meanwhile, no official statement has been made regarding ongoing investigations, the resignation has stirred conversations about leadership and accountability within the NNPCL.
