Omeh Amadi, a top Nigerian home-based Table Tennis player, says he is targeting victory at the prestigious Molade Okoya-Thomas Table Tennis National Championship.
Amadi said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday at the opening of the tournament at Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
He said the event had been a cornerstone of Nigerian sports for decades.
According to him, the family of late Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas has continued to support and add glamour to the tournament annually.
”It is a good thing I am among the people competing for the tournament; I hope to come out victorious.
“It is clear that the tournament will be highly competitive with many talented players vying for the top spots.
”It is not going to be an easy task, I am very hopeful that I will make it victorious and aim to win the tournament with the help of God,” he said.
NAN reports that Amadi has been focused on competing in local table tennis tournaments in Nigeria.
He has participated in the prestigious Molade Okoya-Thomas Table Tennis Cup, one of the biggest tournaments in Nigeria, in 2021.
He is currently ranked 163rd in the men’s singles ITTF World Table Tennis Rankings, with 81 points in the ITTF Africa rankings. (NAN)
