In a stunning display of linguistic brilliance and academic prowess, 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu from Yobe State, Nigeria, has emerged as the World’s Best in English Language Skills at the prestigious 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals, held in London.
Representing Nigeria through the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Nafisa triumphed over competitors from 69 countries, beating a pool of 20,000 participants in a rigorous competition that assessed English proficiency, critical thinking, and communication skills.
The TeenEagle competition, known for its academic rigour and international prestige, draws participation from both English-speaking and non-English-speaking nations. Nafisa’s outstanding performance placed her ahead of even students from native English-speaking countries—an achievement described by many as historic.
In a statement issued by Hassan Salifu, head of the Aminu family, Nafisa’s success was credited to her hard work, discipline, and the supportive environment fostered by the Yobe State government.
“Our daughter’s global success would not have been possible without the visionary support for education by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni,” Salifu stated. “His investment in education has brought honour not only to Yobe but to Nigeria at large.”
The Aminu family also lauded the dedication of the NTIC management and teaching staff, crediting them with the academic foundation that prepared Nafisa to compete—and win—on the world stage.
Back home, celebrations have erupted across Nigeria, especially in Yobe State, where the achievement is being hailed as a major milestone in the country’s educational journey. Many Nigerians are now calling for state and national honours to be conferred on Nafisa for elevating the country’s global academic standing.
“She has made our country proud, defeating nations where English is the first language,” said a proud relative. “Her victory proves that Nigerian students can compete—and win—at the highest level, given the right support.”
With her newly acquired international acclaim, Nafisa is expected to attract prestigious scholarships, global opportunities, and leadership roles that could shape her future and inspire countless others.
“Her success is more than a personal triumph,” her family said. “It is a beacon of hope for every young Nigerian, especially girls, striving to excel academically against all odds.”
