The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as one of Africa’s most distinguished figures.
In a statement issued by the forum’s chairman and Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governors paid tribute to Buhari’s moral courage, humility, and lifelong dedication to public service.
“The death of Muhammadu Buhari marks a significant depletion in the rank of Africa’s all-time great men,” the statement read. “He was more than a former president or military leader; he embodied strategic patience, a modest lifestyle, and unwavering integrity.”
The NGF extended condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting the loss of a close friend and predecessor. The forum also sympathised with former First Lady Aisha Buhari, the late president’s family, and the people of Katsina State, Buhari’s home region.
“We pray that Almighty Allah grants Muhammadu Buhari eternal peace, forgives his shortcomings, and grants his family and the nation the strength to bear this loss,” the governors said.
