The President of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN), Giandomenico Massari, has hailed the Nigerian cycling team for an outstanding performance at the 2025 Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Para-Cycling Track Championships.

Massari told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that the team won a total of 17 medals at the championships –comprising nine gold, six silver and two bronze.

He added that the team had also done well at the recently concluded African Continental Track Championships held in Cairo, Egypt.

“The athletes’ performance is a testament to their high competitiveness on the continental stage.

“The team’s success has not only showcased their prowess in cycling but also highlighted their potential for future international competitions,” Massari said.

He said the feat would contribute significantly to the development of cycling in Africa which aligns with the goals of the African Cycling Confederation and the International Cycling Union (UCI) to promote the sport across the continent.

“This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Nigerian cyclists, coaches, and support staff,” he said.

Massari said that the Para-Cycling team excelled in the B Class Tandem events, securing six gold medals – three in the men’s category and three in the women’s.

In the Track Cycling events, the team recorded the following achievements: Sprints (Women’s Juniors): One gold, one silver, Team Sprints (Women’s Juniors): One gold, Individual Pursuits (Women’s Juniors): One silver, one bronze.

Others are; Omnium (Women’s Juniors): One silver, 1km Time Trial (Women’s Juniors): One silver, one bronze, Keirin (Women’s Juniors): One gold, one silver, Keirin (Women’s Events): One silver, Women’s Team Sprints: One silver and Women’s Team Pursuits: One silver
