Gov Seyi Makinde has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making decisions that would serve the best interests of the good people of Oyo State.

Makinde, on Tuesday in his state broadcast marking the nation’s 64th independence anniversary, equally said his government would continue to give strength to democratic institutions.

“This is because we believe this is one of the best ways to build stronger states and nations.

“We have walked, crawled, ran, stumbled and risen again. We have experienced moments of pride and moments of reflection.

“But, above all, we have demonstrated unwavering resilience”.

He acknowledged that the people of the state had exemplified resilience by supporting his administration over the past five years as it moved from accelerated development to sustainable development.

The governor said the development being put in place was aiming to move the people of the state from poverty to prosperity.

He said his government had directed that guarantors for small scale loans to agri-preneurs through the Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State should no longer be limited to civil servants.

“Community Development Associations (CDAs), farmers’ associations and artisans’ associations can also stand as guarantors for agri-preneurs,” Makinde said.

He added that his government had also extended the subsidy on transportation under the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER) scheme for another six months.

“The subsidy will now also include subsidy on trucks for produce evacuation. This subsidy will be implemented through the various trader and agriculture unions.”

The governor urged the people of the state not to dwell on the difficulties of the present but to use the anniversary period to reflect on what they could do differently.

“This must be, so that the future of our nation will be better than the past.”(NAN)
