Nigeria’s Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) says almost 1.91 million people have applied for positions in the country’s paramilitary agencies during its latest recruitment drive.

Data published on the board’s recruitment portal on Monday shows that Kogi State recorded the highest number of applicants at 116,243, followed by Kaduna (114,599) and Benue (110,644). Lagos and Bayelsa had the fewest applicants, with 14,221 and 11,680 respectively.

The CDCFIB had earlier announced plans to recruit about 30,000 people, meaning fewer than two per cent of applicants will be successful.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted in the coming weeks via email and text message, the board said, urging applicants to monitor their communications for further instructions.
