The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 160 pills of tramadol concealed in footwear at the arrival hall of the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport (MBIAM), Maiduguri.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, said the agency arrested a suspect, Umar Aminu, 38, in connection with the concealed drugs on Friday, August 1.
In a separate operation on the same day, NDLEA operatives in Ogun State raided the Oja Odan area and arrested a female suspect, Aminat Yahaya, with 7,218 pills of opioids, mostly tramadol.
In Oyo State, a suspect, Oladeji Saka, 54, was arrested with 77.5 kg of skunk at Asanike, Ibadan.
In Delta State, Benson Izah, 40, was apprehended in Abraka with 12.5 kg of skunk, 1 kg of tramadol, and 14.4 litres of codeine.

In Bayelsa State, NDLEA officers on August 1 arrested Chief Emeka Opara, 52, and Onuoha Chidinma, 25, along Tantua Road, Amassoma, recovering 41,705 tramadol capsules and other assorted opioids from their residence and shop.
In Kano State, Bashir Gambo, 30, was arrested in Yar Yasa town, Tudun Wada LGA, with 61 kg of skunk.
In Osun State, on Monday, July 28, Kabiru Ayinde, 40, and Roqeeb Adekanmbi, 25, were arrested in Ile-Ogbo area of Iwo town. NDLEA recovered 90 kg of skunk, 36.3 grams of methamphetamine, a Toyota bus (SMK 755 YF), and ₦228,200 in cash.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), commended officers of the MBIAM, Oyo, Delta, Bayelsa, Kano, and Osun Commands for their diligence, successful seizures, and arrests.
Marwa urged all operatives nationwide to sustain the agency’s balanced and proactive approach to drug control.
