The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted full institutional accreditation to 18 programmes of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja and also approved eight new ones for the institution.
The Rector, Prof. Salisu Usman, made the disclosure in a statement signed by Uredo Omale, Director of Public Relations and Protocol of the institution, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Lokoja.
Usman noted that the 100 per cent quality assurance success recorded for the 27 programmes, was a consolidation of the resounding accreditation success in 2022 when all the 30 programmes presented to NBTE got full accreditation.
The rector said that the exercise was conducted by the board from December 18 to 20, 2024.
He stressed that with the outcome, no programme in the polytechnic was denied or given interim accreditation status, adding that it was a reflection of the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and stability.
Usman explained that out of the 57 programmes in the institution, 19 of them were introduced under his administration, representing 33.3 per cent of all programmes in the polytechnic.
The rector commended the collective efforts of the principal officers, management, academic board, and staff of the institution for their dedication and support before, during, and after the accreditation and resource inspection visitation.
He thanked Governor Ahmed Ododo for his unwavering support and creating the enabling environment for the institution to thrive.
Usman reiterated his commitment to rebranding the polytechnic to the admiration of other polytechnics and institutions of learning in Nigeria and beyond.
“The programmes granted full accreditation status with effect from the 2024/2025 academic session.
“The programmes that were granted approval for commencement after resource inspection visitation include HND Civil Engineering Technology; HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option); and HND Building Technology.
“Others are HND Architectural Technology; HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics; ND Printing Technology; ND Fashion Design and Clothing Technology; and ND Mass Communication,” he listed. (NAN)
