The Nasarawa State Government has reiterated its commitment to preserving, promoting and harnessing its rich cultural heritage for economic growth.
Mr Ibrahim Angbolo, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Lafia.
Angbolo, said that the state was renowned for its multicultural heritage, from its traditional fabrics to its unique cuisine and its multi-ethnics groups.
He underscored the cultural significance of these elements, noting that they gave the state a unique identity and contributed to boosting the economy.
“In Nasarawa, our heritage is our strength, from our traditional fabrics, known for their intricate designs and vibrant colours, to our cuisine, which tells the story of our people.
“We are proud of our cultural diversity, we are committed to preserving this heritage for future generations,” he said.
Speaking at the just concluded 2024 Culture and Creative Economy Summit, the commissioner said that the state under the leadership of Gov. Abdullahi Sule had made significant strides in the area.
According to him, Nasarawa State’s active participation in the summit underscored the states commitment to leveraging its cultural assets for economic growth and social cohesion.
”The state museum serves as a cultural hub and also aims at safeguarding and showcasing the state’s cultural assets where residents and visitors alike can explore our history, art and traditions.
“The state’s efforts as highlighted at the summit, are not only preserving history but also paving the way for a culturally enriched future that contributes to the economic well-being of the people,” he said.(NAN)
