The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has urged Gov. Abdullahi Sule to direct the State Commissioner of Police to deploy security personnel to Doma Local Governmenf Area of the State.
The speaker of the House, Dr. Danladi Jatau made the call after the member representing Doma South constituency of the state, Mr Musa Ibrahim brought a motion under matters of public interest during plenary on Monday in Lafia.
He said that the resolution was aimed at maintaining peace and order in the area following reports of alleged tension in Doma South constituency.
The speaker said that security of lives and property remains the top priority of government, adding that without peace there cannot be development.
“First and foremost, the resolutions of the House is that we appreciate the great effort of Sule in sustaining peace in the state.
” We urge the Governor as the Chief Security Officer of the state to direct the Commissioner of Police to deploy security personnel to Doma local governmnet to maintain peace and order” he said.
Earlier, Ibrahim drew the attention of house to security threat and tension in his constituency, while calling for urgent intervention to curb the situation.
He said that peace was the necessary requirement for the development of any society, hence the need for government to continue to prioritise security of lives and properties.(NAN)
