The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed its unwavering support to the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi, “over his proactive efforts in managing disaster risks, particularly in the ongoing flood awareness campaigns”.
In a statement by its Director humanitarian, and security matters, Muazu Hina, on Sunday, NANS commended Abdullahi’s leadership, describing his approach to public safety as “truly commendable.”
The association noted that SEMA’s sustained public enlightenment on flood preparedness and mitigation has been exemplary under his watch.
The students association pledged to mobilise its structures across tertiary institutions in Gombe State to support SEMA’s flood awareness and grassroots education campaigns.
“As an organisation committed to the safety and development of our society, NANS is ever ready to support Gombe SEMA in any initiative aimed at saving lives and protecting property,” the statement reads.
The association urged residents to take seriously all safety guidelines issued by SEMA and to actively participate in awareness activities, emphasising that collective responsibility is essential in combating the impacts of seasonal floods.
According to him, by backing SEMA’s efforts, NANS is set to amplify the reach of the agency’s campaigns, ensuring that more communities are adequately sensitised and protected against the looming flood threats.
